What is sustainability from a sanctuary lens?
At F•A•R•M, sustainability means ensuring our choices support the natural world long-term. We apply this vision to all operations, from governance to animal care and financial planning. Our framework balances anticipated needs with the ability to adapt to change, ensuring the lifelong care we promise to our animal residents.

Cultivating caregiving sustainability
We ensure a realistic lifelong care plan for each animal, including their evolving needs as they age. Our rescue policy prevents overcommitment, ensuring we can manage our resident population effectively. While we provide lifelong care, we also have compassionate rehoming plans for unforeseen circumstances like environmental or regulatory changes.

Cultivating financial sustainability
Financial sustainability starts with a realistic annual budget, including a buffer for unexpected events. We create annual projections and use tools to estimate lifetime care costs. Appropriate insurance coverage mitigates risks. A realistic fundraising plan covers costs, and we maintain an emergency fund for unexpected shortfalls.

Cultivating governance & community sustainability
Sustainable governance includes a well-informed board and strategic planning for the future. We conduct contingency planning to manage disruptions. We value our community: staff, volunteers and supporters. We prioritise caregiver retention by providing support and opportunities. We foster volunteer engagement through communication and recognition. Transparent communication keeps supporters informed and engaged.
we hold an Annual AGM for members only to attend a cast there votes.
